Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging

Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose, treat or determine the severity of a variety of diseases. Diseases include cancer, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neurological disorders, along with other abnormalities within the body. Because nuclear medicine procedures are able to pinpoint molecular activity within the body, CIRA’s fellowship-trained nuclear medicine specialists can identify disease in its earliest stages and measure a patient’s immediate response to therapeutic interventions.
