Breast MRI

MRI of the breast is not a replacement for mammography or ultrasound imaging. Instead, it is a supplemental tool used to evaluate the breasts and determine the presence of certain diseases that may not be assessed adequately with other imaging methods. CIRA’s women’s imaging specialists use breast MRI to screen women at high risk of breast cancer; further evaluate findings from previous mammograms or ultrasounds; evaluate potential breast implant rupture; stage breast cancer; assess the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy; and image the breasts after breast cancer surgery.
