PET CT

CIRA’s advanced imaging specialists are also experts at PET-CT which combines two powerful imaging techniques in one exam. The metabolic information provided by positron emission tomography (PET) is fused onto CT images yielding precise localization of metabolism. Glucose metabolism can be a marker of tumor activity. PET-CT is used to distinguish benign from malignant disease, stage or restage cancer, and evaluate treatment response. It can provide critical information about tumor type, location, and spread. PET-CT may also be used to evaluate dementias, including Alzheimer’s disease, and seizure disorders.
